Almagro new man in charge

Nicolas Almagro is the new champion of Nice. The Spaniard defeated the likes of Victor Hanescu 5-7 6-3 6-3 in 2h17.
The first set between the two players can be summed up as a massive exchange of breaks. The Spaniard and the Romanian had to go to a tie-breaker in order to decide who would take the lead. The breaker as was the set,was an exchange of breaks until Hanescu finally sealed the deal 7-5 on a mini-break of course!

In the second set, Almagro proved why he is 12th player in the world. The Spaniard lifted his level of play, while Hanescu seemed to be suffering somewhat of fatigue. The second set was quickly pocketed by Alamgro, 6-3. Allowing the Spaniard to level the match at one set apiece.

The match was decided in the fourth game of the third set. It took Hanescu 13 minutes to serve out the game, defend 6 break points and tie the set at 2 all. But physically, it was too much for the man from Bucharest to handle. Almagro quickly ran away with a 5-2 lead. Hanescu held and came back to 5-3, but Almagro served out the tournament without a shake ending it on an ace.

After Richard Gasquet, Nicolas Almagro adds his name to what is already an extremely prestigious trophy.
