Nicolas Almagro is through to the semis in the Open de Nice Côte d'Azur. The Spaniard defeated his compatriot Pablo Andujar 6-1 6-4. The first set was a formality for Almagro. In the second set, the lower ranked player broke early on and held on to his advantage until 4 all. It was then that Almagro stepped it up a notch. He got back on serve and proceeded to serve out the match.
The 12th player in the world now waits to know whom of Berdych or Gulbis he will battle with for a spot in the final.
